New Local Government Compensation Reporting Website
The Local Government Compensation Reporting website was released by State Controller John Chiang on Monday. The new site will allow users to access the salary, pension benefits and other compensation factors for more than 594,000 city and county employees throughout California. Reportedly 83 percent of all local governments complied with the new reporting requirements, which were announced back in August after the pay scandal in the city of Bell. City of Loyalton was listed on the non-compliant list. The new website will be updated weekly to reflect incoming details. If information is not eventually offered, a local government could face a $5,000 penalty. The League of CA Cities is urging local governments to be compliant in light of the Bell scandal.
