Sierra County

Dear Editor
Rumor gets stronger and stronger that Sierra County wants to get a bond to cover the unfunded liability of the bloated CALPERs retirement system.
It has been mentioned that this could be an $11 million dollar bond. Where does this stop?
This year thru the Secure School Roads money Sierra County handed out raises, this causes the unfunded liability to get worse, there has not been one attempt by Sierra County to bring wages in line with the no job, no hope situation that the county has designed and is in full force. The Department heads making $100,000.00 plus sure do not see a problem, money is no problem, for most on Social Security, Welfare, retirement and commuting life is not so easy. Like the Garbage TAX, it’s just raise the TAX; the victims will pay, what about cutting cost?
Now they could want a bond to pay unfunded liability that the Supervisors for years has neglected to fix and is only a band aid to let this bunch of elected ones kick the bill down the road, this does nothing to fix the unfunded liability problem, the only way to do that is to lower the wages and retirements and the first thing you hear is that no one would work or take these jobs at less money. If the Supervisors cannot find a solution it is time to dissolve the County.
A bond now would mean that in a few years another bond would be needed, it will never end! Our property TAXES are high enough, no more!
IT IS TIME THAT EVERY CONCERNED CITIZEN SIGNS THE STATE OF JEFFERSON SUPPORT STATEMENT. The time has come for 51, the State of Jefferson
