FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Hi! What's for dinner? A question on many minds when having someone for dinner.
What would you serve, if the King of Kings was coming to your house for dinner? Would kosher foods, Chinese, or spaghetti be appropriate?
More importantly, do we focus on our own plannings AND preparation in our own life, for our own fun, etc. than we do about His will? Don't get me wrong. It is good to plan and make preparations for a lot of things. It is even essential! Yet, let us consider this passage in Luke for our main focus an ne off. Listen! A certain woman named Martha was DISTRACTED WITH much serving. She invited the Lord for dinner and some Bibles say: She was distracted by 1) all the preparations that had to be made, 2) or that Martha was busy with all the work to be done, and 3) she was too worried, and troubled about too many things. That sounds familiar and it's quite common.
We can learn the more important matter that the Lord speaks of in Luke 10:38-42. You see, Martha had a sister named Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and was LISTENING TO WHAT HE HAD TO SAY. This upset Martha. “She asked the Lord, 'Do you not care that my sister has left me to do all the work?” The Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled; fretting about too many things. But only ONE thing is needed. It is essential. Mary has chosen the right thing, and it will not be taken from her.”
Notice His words are gentle and not condemning. Besides, 1 Peter 4:9 says, “Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.”
This story reminds us about not being distracted, or troubled and fretting about too many of the everyday things. And that the Manna, the Bread of Life, His Words are the more important factor. It is to be our most important purpose and focus in life, that is one main point to take to heart today and apply to our daily bread, and He won't take that away from you.
Oh Lord, “How sweet are Your words to my taste; sweeter than honey to my lips.” Psalms 119:103. If you are really hungry for more, Psalms 19:7-10 is a good dessert to add to the meal. You will taste what is sweeter than honey and better than fine gold. Try it, you might like it!
