DANGERS OF TRANSPORTING TOXIC MATERIALS BY RAIL

The recent massive train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, should remind us all about the dangers of transporting toxic materials by rail. This derailment illustrates what can happen when insufficient regulations result in a tremendous, catastrophic wreck. As US citizens, we should, most definitely, be protesting the transportation of chemicals by rail.
Whether it be liquefied natural gas (LNG) or any number of harmful chemicals from pesticides and herbicides such as Roundup, to chemicals like what was released in the recent train derailment.
For us as citizens to protect ourselves, we need to tell President Biden and the transportation secretary Pete Buttigig to ban the transport of all LNG by rail and all carcinogenic poisonous chemicals.
Transportation of these chemicals by rail endangers millions of people along the route with a potential for catastrophic accidents, and explosions. Demand that the federal government denies special permits to transport any form of LNG, and pesticide and herbicide chemicals such as Roundup. Dangerous chemicals are transported through our neighborhoods every single day.
Why should our communities be treated as a dumping ground for careless and greedy corporations, without profit before public safety? One can write to 1616 Piece St. Northwest, Suite 300, Washington DC, to protest the deadly transportation of chemicals by rail. 20036, or call (202) 683–2500. It is also important to communicate the importance of this issue with local government boards, and I encourage everyone to bring this issue to your local city and county officials, to prevent and protect the safety of our local communities and wildlife.
