Hello, my friends in wonderful Loyalton. It has been a long time. I have been living in Lebanon, Pennsylvania for the past 29 years. I hope you are all doing well. I am quite sure many of you will remember my family – my parents, Dr. Bob and Mary Haggard, and my siblings, Mark, and Mary Kay. You probably know my parents passed away and both were buried in the Loyalton cemetery several years ago. Mark is currently living near Daytona, Florida, and Mary Kay (who now goes by “Molly”) lives near Paradise, CA.
I wanted to update you on our lives and also to let you know that I retired in Jan. 2022 after about 40 years of practicing family medicine and, since retiring, I have done something I always dreamed of doing – writing a book. The book is entitled Bearing Fruit for His Glory. It is all about the fruit of the Holy Spirit in the life of believers in Jesus Christ. In it, I strive to explain each fruit using abundant scriptures and to give life examples. If you are interested in ordering the book, please visit westbowpress.com/en/bookstore and search for my book's title; or you can also order on Amazon or Barnes and Noble.
Now, just for a brief update, after graduating from Loyalton High School with the class of '74, I then graduated from St. Mary's College of CA in '78, then I graduated from medical school at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences medical school in Bethesda, Maryland in '83. After that, I served 10 years as a family physician in the US Air Force (at bases in Fairfield, CA; Virginia; England; and Merced, CA) before moving on to civilian life in Lebanon, PA. I married my lovely wife of 37 years, Lisa, in 1985. We have been happily married ever since with three adult daughters and two grandsons. I have been back to Loyalton several times over those years but have not been able to meet with all of you during those visits. You have all had a major positive influence in my life and I thank you for it. If you are able to read my book, you will discover many other adventures we have gone through as a family. Blessings to all of you.
