Event Description
Organizational leadership is challenged with fast-paced innovations, e.g, AI (of course), consolidation and transformation of platforms through mergers & acquisitions, and workforce transformations related to everything from enforcing a return to office policy (or not) to up-skilling of staff to stay ahead of competitors, adversaries, and trends.
A key factor disabling the ability for an organization to respond quickly and efficiently to these challenges is technical debt. Leaders are often not aware or look away as they see technical debt as solely an IT / software engineering problem. Leaders need to be part of the discussion as technical debt poses wide-ranging risk to any organization and remediation efforts compete with, or even prevent, transformation efforts that could enable the organization's future growth.
What can an enabled cybersecurity team do to assist organizational leadership in recognizing and overcoming areas of technical debt which may inhibit the growth potential of, or is creating significant risk for, the organization? This talk will cover the core elements of technical debt and present a framework to consider implementing whereby technical debt can be identified, discussed openly, and pathways can be developed to determine an appropriate pathway forward.
Ed Vasko, CISSP, C/CISO, hardly needs an introduction as he's known throughout the region for his outstanding work as the Director of the Institute for Pervasive Cybersecurity at Boise State University. He also co-founded S3ntry Corp, is the Executive Director of Cyberidaho, is an Advisory Board Member of Shadowscape, and until recently the CEO of High Wire Networks.
