Technology; ya can't live without it and - well, sometimes I'm tempted!

After considerable time and effort, and well aware that I'm not a good "proofer," I carefully proofed the newsletter and sent it out.


So, I was more surprised than any of you that all I got was a reeeaaallly loooong line of code!

The semi-good news is the code linked to the Android KeepItQuerque Consumer App which we want all of Albuquerque's Android Users to download - and you members to be prepared for.

The other good news is the "Difficulty viewing this email? Click here..." (see where all the squiggly red arrows point?) button functioned, so if it ever happens again that you have 'difficulty viewing," well, click there!

We hope you are noticing the momentum KeepItQuerque is gaining in Albuquerque lately, and we hope you approve.

If you've ever thought your KeepitQuerque - buy local organization cold use some new direction, a bit of advice and/or your personal wisdom, you're right!

We are fortunate to have several returning Board Members for next year, and we have room for more.

Please consider how much more we could achieve if only YOU were on the Board - and nominate yourself! 

Or think of what we could get done if only that person you know of who has drive, passion and a true understanding of why it's so important that our community KeepItQuerque was on the board - and nominate them!

We need your help!  Please take ten minutes if at all possible and “pay it forward” by answering this survey to advance national research and practices around employability skills.  As a company/employer, you bring an invaluable perspective on what young people need to be successful and play a critical role in helping to identify, define and measure which skills are the most valuable.  Many people are being left out of the workforce due to a skills gap, and your opinion will help advance strategies to solve this critical issue for the future of U.S. Employment. 
In survey after survey, U.S. employers report a need for core employability/soft skills such as teamwork, critical, thinking, problem solving and communication.  Overwhelmingly, employers report that these ‘soft’ skills are just as, if not more important, than ‘hard’ skills – technical or cognitive, such as applied math. 
Innovate+Educate (a national nonprofit seeking to validate new industry-recognized skills and competencies for employment) and our partners are committed to finding ways to improve the skills in the workforce.  The goal of this survey is to get a deeper understanding of how employers identify these core employability skills in new hires.   
This short anonymous survey will take about 10 minutes to complete.  For participating you will receive the executive summary of the report and a chance to win one of four $500 contributions to the charity of your choice."

KeepItQuerque with a New Mexico True Vacation

Way back at the turn of the contury (I LOVE saying that!) I decided that I didn't
  • a) like getting in the long aluminum tube and hugging my knees to my chest for hours
  • b) know enough about my own state - one of the Nation's largest with it's own fascinating and unique history.
That's the year I bought a used pop-up and began discovering my own back yard.  Carlsbad Caverns, the Gila Cliff Dwellings, Chaco, our New Mexico State Parks, the Billy the Kid Museum, the Alien Museum in Roswell, the Inn of the Mountain Gods, The Cowboy Symposeum in Ruidoso, Cloudcroft... okay, enough. 

But I'm not done! And I encourage you to KeepItQuerque with a New Mexico True Vacation this summer; Here's a great place to start;
