Announcing the 2015 KeepItQuerque Member Directory!

Last May your KeepItQuerque Member directory was delivered directly to over 100,000 Albuquerque area homes - more than ever in KeepitQuerque's history!

The Directory was designed to increase awareness of why it's important to make the "10% Shift," alert our neighbors to our website, ask them to look for the KeepItQuerque Sign in your door and to question businesses without the sign.

The Directory was paid for through a Crowdfunding project on Main Street Crowd where we raised over the goal to reach 70,000 homes and got into 105,000.

The KeepItQuerque Crowdfunding Project garnered attention for the directory, several of the key supporters and for the KeepItQuerque "10% Shift" initiative.

The 2015 project is around the corner and we'll be directing members and the public to help us once again spread the word about how "Buy Local" can improve our local eonomy!

Make sure your membership dues are paid and PLEASE tell those  businesses you'd like to have as members how they can join by supporting the Directory project.

KIQ Member Events You Should Plan For

TODAY is the LAST DAY to Make YOUR Business Voice Heard Nationwide!

Thanks to those of you who've taken the 10 minutes to fill out the ILSR National Indie Biz Survey for 2015.

This is essentially the same survey many of you have helped with in the past.

It's important to re-take the survey each year because each year so the Institute For Local Self-Reliance can compare figures to previous years.  To date theevidence is compelling; Local Businesses in communities with Buy Local Groups see dramatically higher levels of sales than in communities without such initiatives.

Please take just a moment, if you haven't already,  TODAY before the survey closes to add your voice to the nationwide survey.

Hats off to the City of Albuquerque for Local WiFi

Many of you are aware the City of Albuquerque has put our a Request for Proposal to create a wireless network along the proposed Albuquerque Rapid Transit corridor from the west side to the "East Nob Hill" area (to start).

That puts Albuquerque among a few cities that are creating Community Owned Networks that provide better connections, cost less for consumers and create some revenues for community governments.

To find out more about how communities are benefitting by owning their own networks check out this article from the Institute for Local Self-reliance.

President Obama called the city of Cedar Falls (population 40,000) "smart" for investing in themselves and you can see it by clicking here.

Imagine the competitive advantage Albuquerque could have with this technology!  Congrats ABQ!
