KeepItQuerque is partnering with local business organizations around the country on an important national survey of independent businesses. I am writing to enlist your help and encourage you to participate in this brief survey.

It only takes 10 minutes or less to complete and it is completely confidential. Here it is:

We will be using the results to get media attention on the need to support Locally Owned businesses. We will also notify you of the Albuquerque area results after the survey is complete and results are in.

The survey has three goals:
• To gage how independent businesses are faring in today’s economy.
• To assess whether people are more aware and supportive of locally owned, independent businesses.
• To identify some of the main challenges affecting independent businesses.

The survey is being conducted by the Institute for Local Self-¬Reliance, a national nonprofit research and educational organization, in partnership with dozens of Independent Business Alliances, Local First groups, and small business trade associations.

This is the sixth year that this survey has been conducted. Last year, more than 1,800 businesses completed the survey, providing unique and important data about the viability of independent businesses and the effectiveness of "buy local" initiatives. The survey's findings were featured in more than 200 national and local media stories, bringing greater attention to independent businesses and the growing movement to support them.

Importantly, the survey is completely confidential. It does not ask for your name or the name of your business, and only aggregate data will be viewed and released. All individual responses are completely private.
